Birthdays and Santa visit

Kris had a birthday last week (which he got to spend at an airport, or a couple airports, trying to get home from Colorado) and his brother in law, Chris, has a birthday this week so we got together Monday night to celebrate them both.

While we were hanging out singing Christmas songs we were surprised by a special visitor-good old St. Nick himself walked right through the back door! The kids LOVED that he knew where grandma lived and came to see them at her house! Adrie went running across the room when he walked in. On the way home the girls were SUPER hyper and Adrie said "Dad, Dad, I am so excited! When it is Christmas I am going to be so excited I am going to jump up and down and never ever stop!" It was super cute! I love the magic of Christmas children bring to my life!

Kyra and Santa
Adrie and Santa-of course when Santa told her to look at the camera and smile she did it but when I ask she doesn't!Bree mostly liked Santa's beard-she almost pulled it off!
Grandma and Papa and all the grandkids!

Kris tested out his video skills for the first time by editing this little video together last night and I think he did a GREAT job!

That video was awesome! Kris has got skills!
Also, how would it be possible for Bree to pull off Santa's beard...it's real!

Kris - I don't know whether to congratulate you or be embarrassed for you. You are a real blogger now.

I'm not a blogger, don't worry. That video wasn't made for the blog, it just ended up there because of Kecia. I wanted to try and make a video so I could be part of Tucker's club, kind of like geo-caching with you Mark.

I am sure video making can't compare to the thrills and excitement of geo-caching. Who doesn't like wandering around a swamp trying to avoid discovering corpses.

Happy Birthday Kris! I meant to tell you in person on Saturday, but obviously forgot. Maybe sometime I could arrange for you and Mark to go out geo-caching together and then when you get done, you could have some hot cocoa and enjoy a video editing session taught by Tucker. Fun!

Kecia, looks like fun! I love to see how kids light up when they see Santa. So cute.

Since I don't care about blogs anymore (they are SO 5 minutes ago) I have little to say. But, if you were to post this on facebook I'd say this:

You did a great job with the video! Did you use Movie Maker or something else? I'm glad my cable is coming in handy (by the way, I think that your camera should have come with one of those cables I realized)

I hear they are looking for an editor for the new Lord of the Rings prequel "The Hobbit" if you are interested. Let me know when you are ready to move up to AVID or FINAL CUT PRO

Oh, and don't mind Mark, he's just jealous because he knows that editing takes talent and geocaching consists of following a map, or something (what is geocaching? isn't that the annoying voice in the rental cars that tell you when to turn?).

Oh Tucker...you have so much to learn. It is settled, I am going to come up with a little friendly competition and we are going to end this geo-caching thing once and for all. We will each compete individually (Kris, Kecia, Julie, Tucker, Mary, Me, and maybe Scott Haws if I can convince him - I am trying to make him my new best friend)to find a pre-determined amount of caches along the Jordan River Parkway. Winner gets all respect, loser has to make a video about it, because that is what losers do.

Mark. I'm sorry. It is unfair of me to critize geocaching, considering I don't know anything about it. But, my gut instinct tells me that it is probably hard to make a living as a "geocacher". On the other hand, isn't it sort of like treasure hunting? Wait a minute...You've just given me a great idea:

PLOT SYNOPSIS:
What began as a friendly geocaching competition between 3 young men soon takes a wrong turn as one by one their GPS systems become compromised. Each suspects the other of sabotage, but when things take a deadly turn, they quickly realize that they are not alone. Now, these mortal enemies must work together, using their brains, brawn and GPS units, in order to survive.
"GEOCACHING: a comedy"

Wow. Now I really do need you to teach me about this so that we can combine your love of Geocaching and my love of filmmaking/editing.

What a happy compromise. Now it appears Kris doesn't have to choose between us.

Don't think I am the best one to teach you about geocaching...remeber how I feared for my life and couldn't find my way out of the Jordan River Parkway. You may want to get one of the experts. I believe they would still consider me a muggle.

I was a little nervous about choosing an new hobby, so thanks for resolving the difference between yourselves. I just find it funny that this whole conversation takes place on someone's blog. Maybe we should just set each other up on IM or something.

Wow - you are really trying to take this virtual friendship to the next stage...I don't know if I am ready for that.
