Saying Farewell

We had the wonderful opportunity of going downtown to the conference center on friday to attend President Hinckley's viewing. What an AMAZING experience! Although we waited for about 3 hours-with all the kids- I am SO glad we did it and I am SO glad we were able to take the kids. Kyra wanted to go really bad and she kept asking when it was time "to go see President Hinckley's body". It was so cute to listen to her explain to Adrie that we were "just going to see his body because he doesn't have it anymore becuase he lives in heaven with Heavenly Father and Jesus." My cute mom had already gone through and was getting done when we got there and she got back in line with us to help us with the kids. We couldn't have done it without her! Thanks Mom for spending your whole day there! As we were standing in line we were talking about how lucky we are to live so close and be able to participte in this experience. We were also talking about what a different feeling it must have been among the saints when Joseph Smith had died and how hard that would have been. After the long wait we finally approa ched the hall of the prophets and the spirit was So strong, it was like you had walked into a whole different world. the girls were so sweet as they passed by, and as we talked to Jane (my mom's friend and President Hinckley's daughter) she said she was so happy to see so many children because she knows how much that would have meant to her dad! It was a wonderful experience for us all! With the viewing and then the sweet funeral, we have felt so much love from the Lord and such a strong spirit throughout it all. I am grateful for the opportunity to attend the viewing and watch the funeral and I am grateful for our sweet prophet and all that he did with his life. Oh how we will miss him! What a great picture with the temple in the background!
Adrie and Jess-Jess had already gone through when we got there.
Me and the girls waiting in line-unfortunately we had to check the stroller after this point and didn't have it the rest of the time, but they still did pretty well.

This video from Mary's blog is a perfect way to sum up my feelings. It is a must watch!

So glad you took the girls. I really regret not taking Halle with us. I love that picture of Kyra & Adrie with the temple behind them. You're mom is so great to go through again to help you and Lida.

I'm impressed that you made it in line for three hours with your girls. That's an experience that they'll remember forever.

What a wonderful experience. I can't even imagine the spirit there! We watched the funeral on T.V. here in Ohio and the spirit was so strong, so I can't even imagine! Anyway, thanks for sharing! I love checking in on your cute family every once in awhile! Your girls are darling!

The Church has some new websites for President Hinckley and President Monson. Unfortunately, if you search for either of them in Google then you mostly get results that are anti-Mormon. So, the Church has asked us to link to these sites, because the more people link the higher they get in the search results.

So, everyone should link to:

http://www.gordonbhinckley.com
http://www.thomassmonson.com

Especially President Monson needs the links, we need to drive him to the top of the Google search! Go ahead and add a post with these or put them in your blog roll, anything will help
