Down Syndrome Creed
My face may be different
My face may be different
But my feelings the same
I laugh and I cry
And I take pride in my gains
I was sent here among you
To teach you to love
As God in the heavens
Looks down from above
To Him I'm no different
His love knows no bounds
It's those here among you
In cities and towns
That judge me by standards
That man has imparted
But this family I've chosen
But this family I've chosen
Will help me get started
For I'm one of the children
So special and few
That came here to learn
The same lessons as you
That love is acceptance
It must come from the heart
We all have the same purpose
Though not the same start
The Lord gave me life
To live and embrace
And I'll do it as you do
But at my own pace

We feel the same, too. You are the first people we have met who have a kid the same age as ours, and we are glad you live so close. I think Bree is a little ahead of Katya right now though. Katya just barely learned how to stand up. It was great to meet you, and your kids are so adorable!
I love that poem. I think your little Bree is precious. How fun to be able to mingle with other families with down syndrome family members! It looks like a fun event.
I think its so great that they do fun activities like this so you can get to know other families in your same situation! I LOVE that first picture of Bree! I also love the pictures of you dancing. I know you talked them in to letting you be in it!
What a fun thing to do. Bree is the sweetest little girl ever. Those pictures are so cute!!
How cute that the other little girl had the same flip-flops and flexible feet! Bree really is so darling. And, looks like a fun night - although I agree with Julie that you were probably begging to participate! You are always trying to get in on a good dance competition! (ie: the cruise!)
I love every picture of Bree. She's beautiful. I think it is so great that you guys are so involved!
That is a beautiful poem! And it's perfect for your beautiful little Bree! She is so darling! I can only imagine the spirit that she brings into your home. What a sweetheart. I'm glad that there are so many ways for you to connect with other families in your situation. I bet it was such a fun night!
