31 for 21: Down Syndrome Awareness Month

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month so even though I am already 5 days behind, I am going to attempt to blog everyday (it will probably be more like every few days but we will see) this month. The challenge is to blog 31 days for Trisomy 21 awareness. Anyone can do it and you don't have to blog about down syndrome.

DOWN SYNDROME CREED

My face may be different

But my feelings the same

I laugh and I cry

And I take pride in my gains

I was sent here among you

To teach you to love

As God in heaven

Looks down from above

To him I'm no differant

His love knows no bounds

It's those here among you

In cities and towns

That judge me by standards

That man has imparted

But this family I have chosen

Will help me get started

For I am one of the children

So special and Few

That came here to learn

The same lessons as you

That love is acceptance

It must come from the heart

We all have the same purpose

Though not the same start

The Lord gave me life

To live and embrace

And I'll do as you do

But at my own pace

Wow! I love that creed! Tears of joy as I read it again for these special little ones! And a grateful heart for all they teach me with their hugs, their kisses, their smiles, and their little legs running with out stretched arms saying, "Mamma!!!"

XOXOXO

Kecia you are gifted!!!! With words, pictures, and reaching out to people in a way that makes them understand things they thought they already knew, but in a way that enlightens them on a spiritual level. Did that even make sense? I love kids with DS. But this post makes me CELEBRATE them even more! I just am so thankful that i live in a world (and country) that has people like you that champion the cause of those who cannot do it for themselves. Ill say it a hundred times, I just wish you lived in Boise!!!
