Welcome to the world Baby Girls!

(Yes I am a little behind in getting this post put together...having too much fun snuggling our new little ones)

On February 13, 2012 we headed to the hospital at 5:30 am

and welcomed our miracle baby girls into the world.

Claire Lorraine was born first (Baby A) and weighed 5 pounds 8 ounces

A minute later, Livvy Mae (Baby B) was born weighing 6 pounds.

I have had all my babies C-section but this one was the most memorable for me because I was able to see the babies being born. Usually in a C-section you just stare at the blue sheet hanging in front of you and wait until dad can bring the baby to your side to show them to you, but this time the anesthesiologist offered to put a mirror above my head so I could watch when the babies were born. It was AMAZING!

I laid there on the operating table thinking about how only a few months ago I was laying on another operating table in California praying my heart out as a life saving surgery was performed to save these two precious girls and now here they were in Kris' arms safe and sound!

Since the girls are identical the nurses quickly stuck post it notes on them so we knew which baby was which!

To lay there and watch as not only one miracle, but TWO miracles were brought into the world! I cried tears of relief and joy to see and hear TWO babies healthy and strong!

They then turned the mirror to the side of the room where I could watch as the NICU teams examined the babies and then Kris brought both babies to my side and it was surreal to look at these two babies and think that minutes ago they were in my stomach and now here they were.

This picture makes me cry because I never thought we would be able to carry these babies long enough to have them in my hospital room and not in the NICU! When Bree was born she was never in my hospital room with me and I always felt like I missed out on that special time with her so having BOTH babies next to me was an incredible blessing!

After all the stress and complications of this pregnancy we were sooooo releaved to have both babies here safe and sound! Who would have thought that we would have made it to our scheduled C-section a 37 weeks and that neither baby would have to spend a minute in the NICU??!!!

Kyra and Adrie were able to be there right after we were wheeled out of the operating room
and they were so happy to finally get to meet their sisters that they had prayed for for so many months. I remember when we misscarried last year, Adrie said she was sad because she never got to meet that baby and when we got pregnant this time she said she would pray that we got to meet these babies.

Adrie made cute little rattles for the babies

My 6 girls!!

Kyra and Adrie loved spending every minute they could at the hospital with me and holding their new little sisters

Bree and Mia were super sweet with the babies and very interested in them!

The first night in the hospital Kris and I sat there together holding our two girls and we just had this huge sense of relief and it was like this weight had been lifted.....after the uncertainty of the surgery, all the months of worry, the full time bed rest, and holding our breath at each doctor visit and ultra sound, we could finally breath. Our baby girls were both here in our arms and suddenly the long and complicated pregnancy had paid off! We made it and it was so worth it!

They already look so different from these pictures....these pictures make them look chubby but they are so tiny

They love to snuggle in the same bed together....it is so sweet!

For Valentines our cute friend decorated and celebrated with our girls at home

Adrie's sweet note she gave to Kris one night while I was in the hospital

Getting ready to go home

Livvy

Claire

Even the preemie outfits are too big

Miracles certainly do happen and these two angels are proof of that! We can not express our gratitude enough for all the help, love, support and prayers that got these two little ones here ! We are forever grateful!

What a beautiful family and so many blessings! Couldn't be happier for you and Kris. I remember when we got to get together and you shared with me that you were pregnant really early on. I just knew everything would work out for you! I am so happy for your family and would love to make another visit again... :).... hopefully this year. Our girls could all play and we can hold our babies that were in our tummies not so long ago. I'll bring lunch again :)
Congrats!

Congratulations!!!!! I have been checking your blog at least once a day because I just wanted to know that you and the babies were all doing fine. All of our prayers were answered! They are absolutely beautiful just like their 4 sisters. How exciting for your 4 to get to be such a big part of bringing two little miracles into the world. I LOVE their names. Hope you are able to get some sleep and enjoy your time snuggling with them....they grow up much too quickly don't they?

Congrats again and thank you for sharing your journey to "mahvelous Mia" and now the babies. Your blog is such an uplifting one and I always look forward to your updates (P.S. Mia's hair is adorable!).

In the first picture, I have to say that your belly looks huge and the rest of you looks so tiny! It's amazing that you didn't put on a lot of weight being on bedrest for so long. I hope that doesn't sound rude or tacky, because I don't mean it that way. You look like you must have been really uncomfortable!! You were all baby! They are so beautiful, and congrats. I love the name Claire. They just look like regular newborn size in all of the pictures, until you get to the car seat ones. They are TINY! I can't believe how tiny they look in their car seats. They are only as big as the buckles!

Simply ADORABLE! Blessings to your beautiful family and TWO healthy babies, amazing! (my hubby is an identical twin. they have such an incredible bond it's hard to understand at times. your twins will always have each other no matter where life takes them, it's a "twin thing"!)

So wonderful to see this story. My name is Gina. I am a good friend of Brooke Kemp's. She has shared your story with me. I, too, have identical twin girls (almost 2.5 yr now). I very much remember the stress and worry of TTS and two babies and then the glorious relief when they were placed healthy in my arms. It is not something that can be described, the feeling of knowing that you just created two identical, perfect babies and are blessed to be able to be their mother and watch them grow together. So happy for you. Everyday I am more and more grateful to see their little bond grow and develop and feel lucky to be a part of it. Congratulations!
