We participated in our first Utah Down Syndrome Foundation Buddy Walk last weekend! The Buddy Walk is a national event held all over the U.S. to raise awareness and support for down syndrome. Although it was absolutely FREEZING and at times, a down pour of rain mixed with snow, we still had a great time! We started out the morning cheering my little brother, Bret, to victory in the 5K. He took second place over all and first place in his age group! Way to represent Bree well Bret!

He even gave Bree his medal!

Grandma Linda and Papa Mike and Bree

Kyra was also excited to wear the medal. The girls were so cute, even though it was SOO cold they were still happy and cheerful about it all. They were so excited to do the Buddy Walk for Bree.

Kyra and Tate enjoyed the playground while we were cheering Bret on his 5K run!

Grandma Camme and Papa Steve and Bree

Due to the weather, the walk was an abbreviated version around the park but we walked in the rain nonetheless and everyone was in good spirits!

We had 21 people in our group walking for Bree! We are so thankful to have such great support from everyone! My brother in law's family even came and that meant a lot to us! We know Bree will be able to acheive so much with all the great love and support she has around her! Thank you so much to everyone who braved the weather and supported us! (and to those who would have been there given different circumstances)

Bree fell asleep in her little marshmallow outfit before the walk even started.

Curt's umbrella had a little mishap due to the wind but that didn't stop him

Mom and Bree

Our marshmallow girl! She was the only one who wasn't cold! Bree was the youngest "Buddy" there!

There were fun activities, treats, food and entertainment. There was even more planned but the weather put a damper on some of them.

Grandma and Adrie

Adrie was afraid of all the characters so she wouldn't be in the picture with us

The Buddy Walk was a fun way to start out the day of our anniversary! Afterwards, My brother Curt and his wife Amy were nice enough to take Kyra and Adrie home with them for a sleepover so we could go on a date. We took Bree with us to dinner at the Olive garden and then a movie and you wouldn't have even known she was there! She just sat with us at dinner and then as soon as the movie started she fell asleep and sleot through the whole thing!
Thanks again to everyone who supported us! We look forward to making this an annual activity and increasing our numbers each year. Hopefully next year won't be quite so cold!
