The Joys of Childhood

How I would love to be a kid a again! It is so fun to watch them enjoy the simple things and I love watching how much imagination they put into everything. This past week the girls have been super into dressups and they have created all sorts of fun scenarios. Here Adrie was a "barbie cheerleader princess", Kyra was "queen of the princesses" and Halle was the "married princess". How cute! Kyra is really obsessed with this "queen of the princesses" dressup. She looks great in it too!
Another favorite joy of childhood is licking the cake batter of the beater!
And who could forget how exciting it was to catch bugs and make them little homes! Kyra, Halle, and Adrie spent hours with their new found potato bug friends yesterday. They each named them, and created homes in these jars for them. They even took them out to "play" so they could have some fresh air. Last night as they were getting in bed they had set their jars in their room by their nightl ight (so they wouldn't be scared of the dark of course) and went to bed. Well this morning I woke up to Adrie at the side of my bed in tears saying "mommy my potato bug is dead! " It was so sad! The funny thing was that we were pretty sure it was already dead before bed last night but Adrie kept insisting that she was just sleeping. I guess this morning she had to come to the realization that her potato bug (which she named Halle) was not with us anymore. It was really sad!

Poor potato bug Halle! That's so funny. I love their dress-up pictures and their names for themselves. That's so cute.

I remember catching bugs all the time! Especially trying to catch katydids, because they were like my name!

I am sorry for Adrie's loss. :(

Chris' mom taught food and nutrition for years. They NEVER ate cake or cookie batter when they were little (raw eggs, salmonella, etc.) We give her such a hard time about it. His brother still will not eat it to this day.

I remember making cake batter after school with my friends in sixth grade and eating the entire thing (no baking). Yikes!
