Sickness--
I haven't been able to catch up on much of anything the last week and a half since Bree's surgery because she has been sick with one thing after another. The poor girl got some nasty stomach bug 2 days after her surgery and that lasted with extreme diahhrea and vomiting for 6 days and then tuesday night we ended up in the ER all night with her for croup. I took her in at 11 pm and came home at 5 am. It was no fun. Poor girl! So I think-I hope-we are on the uphill now and that we are over it all for Christmas. On top of Bree's issues, Ky got this nasty staff infection on her leg so we have been frequent visitors to the doctors and pharmacy this last few weeks.
We did manage to fit some Christmas activities into the mess of things though......
The girls are THRILLED there is snow to play in and they have played in it every time they get a chance.
The LAST STRAW:
So at the first of December I was so frustrated with how the girls were treating eachother and how they had to compare what everyone was doing or not doing and even the Santa threat was not working so I decided to try this manger thing that we had done when I was a kid. So Kris built us this cute manger and then the girls get to put straw in it everytime they do kind things and the idea is to make the bed soft enough for baby Jesus to lay in on Christmas Eve. A few days after we started it we found this book about it too so it worked perfectly and the girls have LOVED it!! IT was the best thing we could have done!! They have been SOO nice and they get so excited anticipating how soft it is going to be for the baby Jesus. I am glad that they are remembering the real meaning of this wonderful season!
In the book one of the kids lays his sisters nightgown out for her without her knowing and makes her bed so this has become the favorite thing for the girls to sneak and do for eachother. It is so cute!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KRIS!
We celebrated Kris's birthday last week. We had dinner, cake and movie and popcorn night on his birthday....
The girls gave him this remote control-Bree can practically sit on it it is so big!
Then Monday night we went to Provo to celebrate my Kris's birthday with our brother in law Chris's and Santa decided to pay a visit to the party!!!

Poor Bree was throwing up the whole night so she wasn't too happy!
We had our little Christmas get together with our friends and went out to eat at Asian Star and then bag to Mark and Mary's for more fun and dessert. We wore our best festive attire and had a GREAT time!! For a much better synopsis of the night go to Brooke, Mary or Julie's blogs! Thanks for the fun times guys!!

I am so sad to hear about your poor girls week (and yours too!) Croup is awful! And it always takes all night. I feel so sad for Bree. I hope she feels better soon. Way to go on the manger idea. I totally should have done that! Oh well, next year.
Oh, I love the Last Straw thing, what a neat idea. Perhaps I will try it next year with my kiddos!!! Poor Bree, I hope too that she is done with her sickness!!!
I hope everyone gets feeling better soon. Your poor girls! By the way, your Christmas card is adorable! You have got the cutest family!!!
Oh man, poor kids. I hope Bree feels better soon and so does everybody else. Have a Merry Christmas!
Glad you've survived the last week. I wish I would have started the Last Straw thing this year with my kids...don't know why I forgot to get ours out this year. I need to get that book. Your santa party looks really fun, even with a sick Bree!
Poor Bree! I love all the cute ideas.
