Kyra and "The Bee"

Kyra took second place in her class spelling bee so she went on to the school spelling bee for the 1-3rd grades. She did so AWESOME! I was SO proud of her and SO nervous watching her! We had studied alot and she did really well she ended up taking about 10th place out of like 30 kids and the word she got out on was continent...which she had been afraid of the whole time, but then she spelled it all correct until she paused after the last e, and then added the t, but forgot the n. She said she thought she had already said the n. Kyra has come A LONG way out of her shell the last few years. A couple of years ago she would NEVER have done something like this where she was on the spot in front of so many people so I was SO proud of her for doing it so well!
I gave her a heart "good luck ring" so she could rub it when she got nervous

Waiting nervously for the spelling bee to start

She earned a ribbon and we brought her flowers

Adrie was so sweet to support her. Kris was out of town all week while we were studying and Adrie was so cute to take Bree in another room and play with her while I helped Kyra. Then when I left Bree at Julie's for the spelling bee I asked Adrie if she would rather stay too and play with Aiden but she chose to come to the spelling bee to watch Ky.

Grandma Linda was able to come too since dad was out of town. Afterwards we enjoyed a nice big banana split ice cream sundae at Leatherby's to celebrate!

Logan Getaway

Over Martin Luther King Day Kris had to be in Logan for work so we headed up with him on saturday and stayed until tuesday (he had to stay until wednesday night). It was SO much fun just to be away cozy in a little hotel (which was really nice because it was a suite at the new marriott there) with our little family with no outside distractions....well at least not for the first day and a half until Kris had to work. THere was no internet, laundry, chores, school work or any of the other distractions when we are at home so we just played and relaxed and enjoyed being together. THe girls LOVE hotels...no matter where they are. They have this little "hotel ritual"...when they get to a hotel they first check out the phones and unplug them from the wall so they can use them for pretend play, then they check out the fridge and microwave set up, then a little jumping on the beds and then check out any little nook or cranny they may have missed.
Bree joined in on the "hotel fun" this time.

We brought the wii with us and the girls had a great time singing and playing it

Bree's favorite place to hang out was the closet!

And of course the best part of the hotel....especially in the winter....is the POOL! We went swimming mutliple times each day and most of the time we had it to ourselves.

" What am I doing wrong mom?"

Along with the two beds to sleep in, the "living area" had a pull out bed where we could have movie and popcorn night.

Ky sporting moms boots

Bree figured out how to maneuver and stay afloat in the tube and her floaties and it was great because she would just toodle around the pool on her own, happy as can be!

Ky and Adrie played lots of games together

Adrie was really excited because she figured out how to jump in the deep end and stay straight so she could touch the bottom of the pool

Bree enjoying her floating

The girls LOVE swimming with dad! They missed him the two days he was at work

Bree wanted to swim again the minute we were back in the room

One night we went to the yummy Firehouse pizzeria....wish there was one here! They have the best pizzookies EVER! Another night we just got Cafe RIo take out and watched a movie in the room!

It was such a nice little escape together! There is just something I love about being cozy in a hotel room with my whole family close. It was nice to spend time together....especially now that busy tax season had started for Kris!

Random side note....... Luckily after Bree's misshap with teh zhu zhu pets stuck in her hair, it didn't take long to start playing with them again. She totally thinks they are real and squeals in delight when they start tickling her feet.

New Years Day

A few straggler pictures from the NEW year 2010!

Lovely Brandon

New Years Day we went to my moms for more food and more games (both watching and playing). The girls had a little tea party with their new dolls before we left.

Grandma had some great 2010 glasses!

Rayany didn't want anything to do with the glasses

The girls helped Bret and Dad make a snowman....they have been waiting all winter to do this

The 2010 snowman!

Yes the 2010 snowman has a tail!
New Years night all the kids slept over at grandma's and the adults all got an enjoyable night out!
