First day of First Grade-a whole New Phase

ALL DAY? I can't believe she has to be gone from me ALL DAY! I thought leaving her at school on the first day of kindergarten was tough until this 1st grade thing. It was REALLY hard to leave her and know that my life will never be the same-I will never have all of my kids with me all the time to just come and go as we please and do what we want, when we want. Now it is the real world and I don't like it one bit! Ky REALLY wanted a Tinkerbell backpack this year and although I am normally against the character thing I thought what the heck-you are only a kid once and if that is what will make her feel comfortable at school than so be it. She was really excited about her "Hannah Montana" sandals too and told me that she didn't care which outfit she wore as long as she could wear the sandals. Luckily there is nothing on the outside of them that screams "Hannah Montana" -they are just brown sandals with a little guitar-but under the foot is Hanna Montana.Adrie gave her a hug about every 5 minutes as she was getting ready for school-she was really sad to see her go! They are such good little buddies and play so well together-Adrie is giong to be lost without her around.Checking out the new classroom and her desk-she was excited to have the desk this year-an upgrade from the table in kindergarten.Mom and Ky- Kris kept the other two at home so Ky and I could have our one on one time-I think he knew what a baby I was going to be. I cried as she walked away-and it was even harder because she was crying a little too. She was trying so hard to hold it back as she got in line with her friends. So when I got to the car I cried the whole way home and then I walked in the house and Kris gave me a hug and I started all over again. This growing up thing is going to be a lot harder than I thought! Adrie asked why I was crying and I said "I just don't like you guys growing up" and she said "and you miss Ky like me huh?!" So Adrie and I decided to keep busy to make us feel a little better......

Adrie and I made cookies for Ky's after school snack-when Ky got home Adrie told her that she didn't have time to eat her lunch because she was so busy making Ky some cookies (that's a new excuse for not eating)
Adrie wanted to see Kyra's class so we went to pick her up from school and Kyra showed her around.enjoying some cookies after a LONG day! Adrie wanted to use the flower cookie cutters on them so this was our attempt.Ky was really tired and vegged on the couch for awhile.

BACK TO SCHOOL DINNER:

I decided to make a special back to school dinner. We had name tags, we ate on the "school lucnh trays", had "school" decorations and centerpieces, and decided to have a family theme for the school year. This year it is going to be "Kindness Begins with Me". Our family night lesson was centered on that too.

We had ABC tater tots....ABC jello jigglers.......and Homemade chicken strips-they were really yummy but I didn't get a picture of them.


So we made it through the long day but I am still pretty depressed about my life not being like it used to be. Although my kids drive me nutty alot I still LOVE having them around all day and I am sad to see this new phase of life starting. I know everyone always says "They grow up faster than you think" and boy are they right!! I am already wanting it to be summer again so we can just play together!

Ending the summer with a BANG!

Yes the picture is as sad as the story! The picture doesn't really do it justice but she wouldn't let me take a more detailed one. Kyra ended her summer with a major bike crash. We were on a walk with a bunch of neighbors and as we came around the corner I looked ahead and saw Kyra sitting by her bike with her hand over her mouth-Oh GREAT what was under (or not under her hand?) So I ran up to her and she was bleeding everywhere and there was a nice puddle of blood on the pavement as well. She was pretty banged up and bleeding all over so I put her in my bike trailer with Bree and my neighbor took Kyra's bike on top of her stroller and I ran home to assess the damage. Long story short my brother in law who is a dentist said that there really isn't anything to do at this age because her teeth will be falling out soon anyway and the cut is on the inside of her mouth so it will heal on its own. She had a loose tooth on the bottom before the accident but it was helped out last night by the fall and it looks like we will see much more of the tooth fairy in the next little bit. This picture was taken today-24 hours after it happened-and it looks lots better than it did yesterday. She had a HUGE fat lip yesterday and today it is down quite a bit. She is finally able to eat and drink tonight so that is good too. So total damage; cut up chin, cut up under her nose, swollen lip, cut lip and gums, black and blue gums, slightly missplaced uppper teeth, cut elbow and two cut knees. Not the most ideal way to start first grade in 2 days but what do you do?

We did salvage a little fun in between Kyra's injury and Bree's ear infection.......Kyra had REALLY been looking forward to the last summer swim at Papa Steve's and even with her injury she didn't want to miss out so she attempted to swim. She mostly just stood in the water and looked really sad but at least she tried. We finished off the swim with a BBQ-some of our favorite summer activites at Grandma Camme's!

Saturday Adrie went to her primary water party-Ky decided she wasn't up to it and then saturday night we went over to feed the ducks. The girls LOVE this and we hadn't done it all summer so it was a fun little activity for the evening.

Bree was REALLY excited about the ducks and she kept trying to dive out of my arms to reach them.AdrieKyra tryed to smile for the picture-poor thing!!

More Parks

We took lunch to another park and met some more friends there-and even saw an old friend we weren't expecting to see (it was great to see Alisa).
Bree and Avery playing-this was right before Bree decided to clamp her teeth into Avery's arm that is right in front of her. She left a HUGE mark-sorry Avery!
Kyra and Halle-this picture just makes me smile! I had another sad moment with this one too-thinking of Kyra missing out on all this from now on-growing up really stinks!!

Kyra picked out a Tinkerbell lunchbag to go with her tinkerbell backpack for school and so of course Adrie thought she needed one too. So they decided to test them out at the park.

Last week of summer

I can't believe how fast this summer has gone! I am REALLY not ready for it to be over! So this week we played, vegged in our PJ's watching cartoons in the morning, went on walks to the park, and tried to soak up the last days of summer!

The girls LOVE going on walks with the neighborhood friends to the park! Bree had our friend Beck riding with her and she loved it- Some of the neighborhood kids taking a break in the shade after a long ride. As I was looking at this picture I got so sad that I won't be able to do these kinds of things with all of my kids everyday-I am REALLY going to miss it!

FAMILY NIGHT:

For family night we went to the Hollywood Connection with M&M! The kids had a great time riding all the rides adn playing mini golf together....
